Upcycled T-shirt Ruffle Scarf Tutorial

Found this tutorial from Pinterest from thediydish.com. Love being able to use an "old" T-shirt!
Wanted to make one for my boys' girlfriends, Karen and Laura. Here is the first one. Don't worry girls, these are new shirts found on sale at Target. :)
Here are my photos and instructions. thediydish.com has more tutorials that are also very neat!

1.  Find or purchase a large or XL T-shirt
2.  Cut 8-12 circles from the T-shirt using a paper plate as a template
3.  I was able to get 12 circles from this XL shirt. Some circles were smaller than the plate
4.  Cut a spiral from each circle. I just free-hand cut. Width of my strips were about 1.5" - 2" wide.
5.  Attach two strips together by the thicker end making a long strip. I stitched mine.
6.  Use of or two of your short strips to tie around the center of the longer strips. Gently running your hand down the strips help them to curl.

You're done!
Have fun!!

Pumpkin Bar Recipe

I make these bars every fall. I usually use canned cream cheese frosting or dust with powdered sugar.
(The house smells soooo good when these are baking!)

Recipe:
2 cups pumpkin
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup oil
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
1 T cinnamon
 1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cloves
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder

Blend all and bake in jelly roll pan for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Top with frosting or powdered sugar.

Enjoy and have a great week!

Cocoa Sandwich recipe in honor of my mom!

This post is in honor of my mom. Her PET scan came back ok today!
I remember her making these for us after school. Believe she got the recipe from her mother, my grandma Witthoft!
I wrote out this recipe when I was in 5th or 6th grade. (That was a loooong time ago.) Check out the handwriting. Love that it is well used.

Hope you enjoy the recipe. It makes about 8 square sandwiches. Perfect for after school treats!

Have a nice week!

Free photoshop actions!

I was thrilled to find free Photoshop actions from Pioneer Woman.
I enjoy creating my own Photoshop looks but these are fast, easy and fun.

I combined several actions when playing with a random photo. This look reminds me of an old newspaper clipping!

Have fun!

Art and photos

More art for Etsy. This design made me think of pink ribbons and breast cancer awareness. Plus always pray. :)

Josie working at the 2 Sisters Jams & Jellies booth at Decorah's Farmers Market. Mom, Jill, is a great designer. I love her chalkboard menu board and pennant.

A group shot of some of the Kleckner clan and some of the Bowden clan. Had a great day in Decorah!

For Etsy. A photo taken along one of our bike trails. I liked this quote. I want to remember that each day is special.
